WHEN IT COMES TO DOWNTOWN LIVING, COMMUNITY IS KEY.
Meet Tanner Clausen, a downtown resident and digital strategist for Agropur. The following feature was written by Tanner Clausen.
I'm Tanner Clausen, and I've lived in Downtown La Crosse for just over two years now. I currently live in the Residences at Belle Square and love the community with the urban feel of Downtown La Crosse!
I always loved all that La Crosse had to offer during my time at UW-La Crosse. Upon graduation, I knew that La Crosse felt like home to me and thought it would be best to grow my roots in a city that I loved after graduating. I chose to stay in La Crosse and live downtown because of how vibrant, close-knit and special downtown La Crosse is. I love all the local shops, choice of restaurants and bars and that Riverside Park and the Mississippi is just steps away from my apartment.
The sense of community is my favorite part of La Crosse. There is so much support for local business and so much to do. I recognize so many people on my walks around town that makes La Crosse seem so small, but also love the big-city vibe that downtown has to offer with its food and beverage scene.
As a member of the DMI promotions committee, I love supporting downtown. I always look forward to the Holiday Open House, Restaurant week or live music at many establishments. As someone who lives downtown, I want the businesses around me to flourish so it’s really important to support the great places around me. I am thankful to be to live and play in such a great city.
"No matter what part of La Crosse you live in, shopping local and dining local are really important things we can do to support downtown especially in these critical times." Tanner Clausen, Downtown Resident
Skip ordering takeout from a national chain and support a local restaurant. Want to get a head start on your holiday shopping? There are plenty of local offerings all over downtown shops. I want to see downtown continue to flourish, and I really hope it will. But it takes the support of everyone to contribute what they can to this beautiful community.
If I am not out around Downtown, I love hiking up at Grandad’s Bluff or Hixon Forest. I enjoy spending time at coffee shops with friends or getting work done. I own a freelance social media company so if I am not outdoors I usually am working with clients!
