Support Local.

A Community Partnership

Dear Greater La Crosse Community,

During this unprecedented time, it is paramount that we work together to preserve our small businesses. Small businesses donate 250% more to their community than larger businesses (Small Business Saturday, 2019).  Small business owners are always generous with us, now we must step up to protect and support them.

This website is a directory of online ordering, current hours and services offered for our small businesses, many that are local, family owned businesses. We encourage you to support them with online orders, gift certificate purchases, takeout and curbside pick-up. If your favorite place is not listed in this directory, feel free to share it with them so they can register. This site is continually being updated, and we appreciate your patience as we support our small businesses at this time.

During times like these we must work together, and truly live local.

Ways to Support Your Local Businesses Now-

During this time of adjustments in daily routines, we encourage you to remember our many small businesses in downtown and to continue supporting them. Many of our businesses are now open and invite you to continue your shopping, dining and service experiences under safe guidelines set forth by the La Crosse County Health Department and the WEDC- Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

Follow this same guidance regarding social distancing and proper health etiquette if and when visiting businesses and public spaces. The first priority for everyone is to take appropriate steps to limit the spread of COVID-19 and ensure our entire community remains healthy.

  1. Shop in person or via phone, online or email. Some of downtown’s retailers have online shopping available; our local and independent shops will help you get what you need via phone, email, Facetime, or other methods, if necessary. Curbside pick-up is available at many businesses here.

  2. Purchase custom or corporate gifts from local retailers who can handle orders over the phone or online.

  3. If you typically order wholesale products with local retailers later in the year, place your orders now.

  4. If you do not need anything specific at the moment but still want to support local, buy gift cards or certificates to your favorite place to shop, dine or have services. Downtown gift certificates are good for over 70 businesses to spend later in our various storefront businesses and can be purchased here.

  5. For restaurants, dine in with new reduced seating capacities. Order takeout or delivery and tip the same amount as you would dining in. See our running list of La Crosse restaurants offering takeout, curbside pickup, and delivery options here.

  6. Salons and personal services need your support as well and many are now open. Other options are to make your appointments for the future, or purchase gift certificates and remember to tip generously when you have your future services.

First and foremost, prioritize and take all health and safety precautions for yourself and others in our community. Our community health as a whole depends on working together, and our small businesses depend on us for their livelihoods. We want to make sure they continue to stay successful while maintaining appropriate public health safety measures.

During times like these we must work together, and truly live local.

We encourage you to support our businesses directly, however, if they do not have a gift certificate program, and are involved in Downtown Mainstreet's program, you may use those as well. Our Downtown Gift Certificates serve over 75 Local Businesses.
